Have you ever had “one of those days”—that as soon as the day starts you just totally feel that you woke up on the wrong side of the bed? Or have you ever felt that fate is playing on you that every miserable turn of event you had to endure in a day?
Well I’m pretty sure most of us have experienced this kind of dilemma—when we just really feel under the weather because of the continuous gloomy conditions outside or to us women who are having PMS, (Ha ha!). Whatever may be the reason, you should not let any circumstances ruin your day. If you let stressors and uneventful situations take over you for the rest of your day, you might just end up paying the price.
To help you get out of a bad day, here are a couple of helpful tips to make it right:
1. Be Thankful
Its morning and you just don’t feel getting out of bed because it MONDAY. Instead of lamenting over the fact that the weekend is over and that you have mountains of tasks waiting for you in the office, can you not just be thankful that you still have work? That you have a way of earning money to bring something to the table?
No matter how you feel, it always best to start the day by being thankful. Find something good or something to be thankful for in every situation.
Here’s another simple trick: As soon as you open your eyes, always greet the day with a smile. It will definitely give you a mood booster!
2. Listen to Music
Nothing is worse than being stuck in traffic or waiting in line for you to catch the next train or bus. If you find yourself losing “it” in this kind of situation, it’s best that you keep a playlist of your favorite up beat songs. If you play a song, remember to sing along! Experts actually have proven this trick as an effective way to uplift any bad mood.
Just sing all your nerves out and you’ll immediately feel that the traffic outside or the long cue just don’t matter anymore.
3. Take a Breather
If your boss has been on your neck for the past four hours in the office, do not forget to take a breather. Yes, it can be stressful at times to meet the boss’ expectations and to reach deadlines, but taking a 10-15 mini-breaks will help improve your mood. It will also make you even more productive (this is scientifically proven!).
Spend this mini-break out of your workstation. You can do this by grabbing a cup of coffee with your workmates and just spend a couple of minutes chatting with them about topics other than work.
4. Brush it Off and Smile
I’ve known so many people who think about everything that is not even worth worrying about—and I just pity them. Being so obsessed in analyzing the turn of events in your day will do you no good, it will just make you worry. If you think one predicament is not worth worrying about, then just brush it off! Don’t let negative thoughts get the best of you!
5. Pray and Meditate
At the end of the day (good or bad) it’s always best to take a time off to pray and meditate. Think about how your day went by and pinpoint the things that you should be thankful for. If you’ve been in a pickle the whole day, releasing your negative vibes through prayer and meditation will help take off the load before you turn in for the night.
