How to Beat School Bullies

School has just started but you feel like you want to quit already. And it’s not because the subjects are hard or boring, as a matter of fact, you love to study. You like your teachers too. So what seems to be the matter? The school bullies.

Bullying is a serious problem. It causes stress, fear and sadness. It can also be a life and death issue. Some who are victims of bullying may even resort to suicide. Bullying of any sorts happens to kids all around the world. You are not alone. You just need to learn how to deal with it wisely. Here are some ways on how to beat school bullies.

1. BE PREPARED.
Bullies may attack verbally. They may tease you or call you names and make you feel worthless. But don’t react and don’t feel bad about yourself or else bullies might think they have succeeded and they will bully you more. If you have to stand up for what you believe, think beforehand on what you want to say. Say it in a calm manner, but be confident about it. You could also use humor to diffuse the situation and beat the bullies.

2. WORK ON YOUR CONFIDENCE
Bullies pick on someone with low self-esteem. They know when you are not relaxed and use that to ruin your self-confidence. Remember, most bullies are insecure and they bully others to cover their insecurity. But if you show that you have full confidence, they will leave you alone.

3. DON’T BE A LONER
If you’re a loner, you become an easy target for bullies. So work on your social skills and never isolate yourself. Don’t walk to school alone. Take a friend with you.

4. THINK OF WAYS YOU CAN PROTECT YOURSELF.
Bullying can be very physical and worse than just pushing and shoving, but never retaliate. Revenge will only make matters worse. Avoid places where bullying might happen and be willing to walk away when it does. Walking away is a sign of maturity and demonstrates self-control, something bullies don’t have.

5. PROTECT YOUR THINGS.
Some bullies might steal or break your things so label your belongings. Don’t take money or expensive things to school.

6. TELL AN ADULT
Bullying is a serious problem you should not face alone. Talk to your parents, school officials or a trusted adult about a bullying incident. Even though you might feel like a tell-tale or afraid that the bullies might retaliate, speaking up is the first step to beating the bullies. Never ignore a bullying incident even if you are not involved. If you witnessed bullying and not tell anyone about it you become part of the problem and not part of the solution.

It is not your fault that you are being bullied. Don’t let the bullies succeed in robbing you of your happiness. Beat the bullies. Beat them without using your fists. Beat the bullies with your wise actions, not with retaliations.
